JHRTS News & Updates: April 2013
The Junior Hollywood Radio and Television Society has been very busy this month!
On Wednesday, April 24th, twelve formidable teams gathered at Busby's East to compete for glory in the Annual JHRTS Trivia Night. Proving their savvy in every round, these aspiring trivia masters faced questions on former child stars, television history, Hollywood geography, podcast creators, cartoon dog identification and much, much more. Preliminary rounds resulted in a suspenseful 3-way tie! After two tension-filled tiebreaker rounds, our champions emerged. Join us in congratulating team “My J Hurts”, whose worthy performance scored them each a free year of membership to JHRTS!
On Wednesday May 1st, Andy Richley, SVP of TV Development at Lionsgate, joined a group of JHRTS members for an intimate roundtable discussion. He shared extensively about his experiences working on the creative side of television, he discussed his career path leading up to his current position and he spoke about the changing business models Lionsgate utilizes in its television strategy. JHRTS members had the opportunity to learn all about the 10/90 model Lionsgate has been using with many of its’ series, including Charlie Sheen’s ANGER MANAGEMENT and the new series pickup with George Lopez, SAINT GEORGE. Andy also spoke about the future of television and how the new platforms will continue to affect traditional networks. Andy had a lot of insight and it was truly a pleasure getting to sit down with him to pick his brain.
